Varsity Basketball vs. Falk School
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Home
Date: January 17, 2012
Result:Win
Score:54-38
Event Recap:

The Varsity Ravens Basketball team entertained their home fans with a thrilling 54-38 victory last night at the Gow Center. The team led from start to finish using balanced scoring and tenacious defense to keep the Falk Falcons off balance for the majority of the evening. The young Raven team has been working hard since they returned from the holiday break in an effort to provide Coach Chafin some return on his efforts. The combination of Sundays Captain’s practice combined with a more mature and dedicated focus from the team is starting to pay dividends on the court.

The team started quickly as Senior Jacob Z. sunk three first quarter three-pointers to get the show started. The shots seemed to open the floor for contributions from the rest of the team. Junior Conner S. followed suit with fifteen points of his own as he shot a spectacular seventy percent from the field. Junior Grant S. led all scorers with a respectable twenty-two points but his biggest contribution was the unselfish play he demonstrated as he consistently found open teammates leading to a season high nine assists. The leadership he demonstrated on the floor was the missing ingredient that the young Ravens had been lacking throughout the season.

Sophomore Greg K. turned in his finest effort of the season with a game high thirteen rebounds to go along with his two points. Junior Alex L. provided more steady play under the boards as he fought off a severe allergic reaction and still provided enough quality minutes to gather five rebounds. Senior Thomas D. filled in nicely as he ended the night with six rebounds and four points. Seniors Brandon A., Rush P., Mark B., Alex L. and Eric W. found some quality playing time as they kept the opponent from passing the forty point mark for the second game in a row.

The Varsity Ravens congratulate their younger JV Ravens on an inspiring performance prior to their game and they also thank Modified Coach Joe Cendrowski for his half time assistance as he put on his tool belt, grabbed a ladder, and changed the nets during the half time break. It was a true team effort all the way around and an exciting night to be part of Gow Basketball!
