Event Recap: The Varsity Ravens ended their season with a tough fought 51-20 playoff defeat to League Champion CCA. The team and student body was addressed by Athletic Director, Mark Szafnicki as follows:
“Unfortunately, this evening the varsity basketball team lost a tough game against league champion CCA. Basically, they were beaten by a stronger team. However, our boys played well and they played hard. I’m proud of the effort that they put into tonight’s game and the entire season. Please join me in congratulating them for a hard fought, fun and exciting season. There were many positive outcomes this season. They all deserve a lot of credit, as do the athletes on all of our teams. The varsity players have earned dorm rest tomorrow if they want it. With that said, the winter athletic season is not quite over. We will be conducting sign-ups for spring athletics at the end of assembly tomorrow. There is skiing at Holiday Valley and at Kissing Bridge on Friday. The JV basketball team has one more game on Friday as well. Look out for a little bit of fun and a change in the routine on Thursday.”
GO RAVENS!!
Now that Thursday has passed, the “little bit of fun” found March Madness making its way into the Gow Center for a little Faculty vs. Student competition. In a stunning upset, the Varsity Ravens, under the direction of Interim Head Coach, Mr. Dan Kelley, deployed a full court press to emasculate the heavily favored Gow Faculty. In his post-game interview, Mr. Kelley stressed the excitement of finding the proper venue to even the score with his colleagues. The Varsity Ravens completed their season with an inspiring victory witnessed by the entire student body!
The basketball program would like to give special thanks to the following seniors for an outstanding season:
Brandon A., Alex P., Tom D., Eric W., Jacob Z.
Best of luck to these athletes as they transition into their college careers and thank you to the entire team for a fine season! |
