Cross Country vs. Nichols
Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away
Date: October 5, 2011
Result:Loss
Score:43-20
Event Recap:

The cross country team traveled to St. Francis High School in Hamburg, NY to compete against the Nichols School. Historically the St. Francis course can be very muddy and windy, but this year the weather cooperated as the Running Ravens did their best against a very deep and talented Nichols squad. Gow front-runner and team captain, Grant S., ran a confident and strong race, staying ahead of the pack for the duration of the event. He continued to lengthen his lead throughout the competition, and finished the 3.0 mile course in 16:59. This was nearly one full minute before the top Nichols athlete; Grant captured first place overall.

Sophomore Mark C. continued his strong performance this season and finished in 9th position at 20:16; he improved his 2010 performance by over one minute and set a personal record. Senior Jacob P. continued to make progress and finished in 20:46, capturing tenth and hitting his personal record. Other personal records were set by Jack B. (20:48), Spencer G. (31:45), Krishan K-P. (23:58), and Eric W. (21:43). Also doing a great job were Cameron G. (24:35), Zach H. (28:42), and Owen P. (23:00).

The cross country team will compete next week vs. St. Joe’s in a home race at Emery Park. Go Ravens!
