Event Recap: Hoping to bounce back from a hard-fought match with Nardin the Friday before, Gow faced the Waldorf School for their first away game of the season. Both teams appeared well matched at the onset, and it was quickly apparent that the pace of the game would be intense.
Waldorf opened the score sheet after an unfortunate rebound seemingly stymied Gow’s defense. Five minutes later forward Kian C. would equal the score with a wonderful individual effort which showed both patience and pace on the ball. Fortunately for Gow, Kian and Gow’s eager offence were not finished; the forward scored his second goal four minutes later when an errant pass found its way across the Waldorf goal box. With a half remaining, Gow was leading 2-1.
The second half would soon see more creative play by forwards Cole A., Kian C., Vaibhav N., and midfielders Karl J. and Viktor M., among others. Gow’s third goal came from Viktor M. who worked his way to the end of a series of advancing passes. Shortly thereafter, Karl J. seemingly sealed the victory for Gow with a pointblank blast from a centering pass by Viktor M. The coaches were extremely impressed by the progress of seventh grade defender Zach V., midfielder Zach S., Max C. and forward Conner P. Each player provided glimpses of just how successful the modified team will be for a few years to come. Great team effort Ravens! |
