Mrs. Audrey Shafer
M.M. Opera, SUNY at Buffalo
Mrs. Audrey Shafer is an accomplished soprano who has performed solo works and operas worldwide. She has been at Carnegie Hall multiple times over a fifteen-year span between 1981 and 1996, as well as across the greater Tri-State area. Ms. Shafer also performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in 1983. She was a featured soloist in Opus Classics Live on WBFO and performed with the Greater Buffalo Opera Company and Buffalo Opera Unlimited locally. She has served on the Vocal Faculty at Buffalo State College.
Mrs. Shafer received her Bachelor of Music at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She earned her Master of Music and Opera at the SUNY at Buffalo. She was a three-time winner of the Cameron Baird Concerto Competition. In 1995, she was the recital winner of the Richard Tauber Vocal Competition in New York City, and was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera and New Jersey Opera auditions, as well as the New York Oratorio Competition.
In addition to teaching at Gow, Mrs. Shafer presently teaches part time at Community Music School. She serves as the director of music for St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, and is the music director of the Kalina Singing Society and Simon's Angels. She serves as Chair of Vocal auditions for the Chromatic Club of Buffalo.
Mrs. Shafer resides in Williamsville, NY with her husband Dennis and is mother to two children. In her spare time, she loves to read, play tennis, and paint.
