Biography

Mr. Luke Salerno began teaching at The Gow School in 2000. He teaches 8th grade American History and is Head of our Middle School.

Mr. Salerno is from Youngstown, NY, and earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Studies Education from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. In his time at Gow Mr. Salerno has served as Academic Director of the Summer Program, Director of Student Activities, coached athletics, and has been a Dormitory Parent. Mr. Salerno is a passionate proponent of multisensory instruction and technology integration, and has been trained in Gow’s Reconstructive Language, Executive Function Coaching, and Constructive Writing curriculums. Mr. Salerno was the 2005 recipient of The Gow School’s Lowell L. Lundell Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Outside of the classroom Mr. Salerno has a passion for local and regional history, specifically in the areas of historical geography and industrial history. He enjoys soccer, golf, travel, and motor-sports. He resides on campus in Emery House with his wife Michele and their two sons Aidan and Gavin.
