Beyond Final Exams, the Next Three Weeks at The Gow School
The end of the school year is fast approaching, and teachers and students are focused on final exams. So much happens in the last three weeks of school, so highlighted below are some of the other things we are working on:
Our seniors have officially moved out of the college counseling process and the juniors have moved in. Back in January, our juniors started meeting with Mr. Brown and Mrs. Mirsky to begin the process of life after Gow. Juniors have now started taking their ACT’s and writing their college essays.
Prom: May 4, 2019:
Our third annual junior and senior prom happening this Saturday. Students are excited to attend this masquerade themed event and spend time with friends for one last hurrah before the end of the school year.
Returning students have a say in their advisors for next year. Students in grade 7-12 fill out a form with their preferences on who they would like as their advisor for the year. Each grade has a different group of advisors to choose from.
We encourage our students to have face to face conversation with whomever they want to room with. This is a big decision our students make, and they take a lot of factors into consideration. Along with choosing a roommate, they also list their dorm preference.
Govians are also starting to apply for leadership positions. Choices include, Resident Assistant, Head Waiter, Crimson Key, Health Office Assistant and Library Assistant. All of these leadership opportunities have to be applied for, and not everyone will be picked.
If you have anymore questions about the next few weeks at Gow, please contact your child's advisor.
