Athlete of the Week
Each week, one student is recognized for his/her contributions to Gow's Athletic program. The recipients for the 2018-20198 school year are listed below.
Jack B. '20 - December 10, 2018
Wrestler Jack B. earned this week’s Athlete of the Week honors. Jack earned a pin during his first match at 170lbs at the Lyndonville tournament on Saturday. Congratulations Jack!
H.A. A. '19 - December 3, 2018
The first winter Athlete of the Week award goes to Varsity basketball player H.A. A. Playing in his first varsity game last week, H.A. played outstanding defense and scored 6 points in the team’s loss to Amherst Christian. H.A.’s tenacious defense and hustle earned him this week’s award. Way to go H.A.
Phil H. '20 - November 12, 2018
One of our final Athletes of the Week for the fall season were Philip H. Both athletes competed in the Iroquois 4 Miler on Veteran’s Day. Phil completed the four mile course in 33 minutes and was the lone Gow Competitor. He finished the race in 6th place for his age group and 29th overall. Congratulations Phil and Bridget.
Bridget D. '21 - November 12, 2018
One of our final Athletes of the Week for the fall season is Bridget D. Both athletes competed in the Iroquois 4 Miler on Veteran’s Day. Bridget competed in the one mile fun run. She gave it her all and received one of the largest cheers of the competition for her effort as she crossed the finish line. Congratulations Bridget.
T.K. N. '21 - November 5, 2018
On the OE camping trip over the weekend, TK showed tremendous teamwork, compassion, grit and selflessness. While one of the chaperones was not feeling his best, TK stepped up and honored the school’s four pillars. He did so with a sense of adventure and passion for the outdoors, remaining positive no matter what the circumstance. Congratulations TK.
Teresa J. '20 - November 5, 2018
Teresa is the coxie on the rowing team. Despite a lack of time on the water this fall, Teresa led the team into their final race over the weekend. She laid a straight course and kept the boat motivated during a difficult race. Congrats Teresa.
Zak Z. '19 - October 29, 2018
Zach is a striker on the varsity soccer team. Always a hard worker and one of the fastest players on the team, Zach scored a beautifully placed curving kick into the corner of the goal in last week’s semifinal match-up against league rival Central Baptist. Congratulations Zach!
Nick O. '20 - October 29, 2018
Nick is a midfielder on the boys varsity soccer team. Although he rarely scores goals, he never gives up on a play and is always around the ball. His hard work and selflessness for the team helped them reach the IAC final match-up v. Park last weekend. Nice job Nick. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.
Andrew C. '19 - October 22, 2018
This week’s athlete of the week is rower Andrew C. Andrew is a strong competitor and team captain. He always goes the extra mile in practice and races. Andrew is the team “stroke” and is looked up to on the water as the team leader. He is in the sense a student-coach. Congratulations Andrew and keep up the good work.
Daric F. '22 - October 8, 2018
This week’s Athlete of the Week award goes to Modified Soccer player Daric F. Daric is the captain of the modified team and their leading scorer. In the first 8 games of the season, Daric has scored a total of 18 goals including several hat tricks. Nice job Daric. Keep up the good work.
James M '19 -October 1, 2018
This week’s Athlete of the Week award goes to cross country runner James M. James competed in the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester, NY last Saturday. He completed the 3 mile course in 25:45 earning a personal record and dropping over 4 minutes from his time from last year. Congratulations James.
Keifer '19 - September 4, 2018
This week’s Athlete of the Week award goes to varsity soccer player Keifer M. In the team’s first four games of the season, Keifer has amassed a total of 12 goals to lead the team. The team won all four of those contests. Congratulations Keifer.
Ethan '20 - September 18, 2018
The first Athlete of the Week goes to golfer Ethan. Ethan medaled in the team’s last two matches that helped lead to two team victories. Congratulations Ethan.
