Meet Mr. John Munro - Head of School

On September 15, 2021, Brad Rogers announced his plan to retire as Gow's sixth Headmaster at the close of the 2022-2023 school year. He will close out a 20-year tenure at Gow with an impressive legacy of transformational change including outreach, co-education, campus enhancement, and growth.

The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce that after a nine-month search, John Munro has accepted our invitation to serve as the next Head of The Gow School. Mr. Munro will begin his tenure on July 1, 2023.  He has begun getting to know Gow the best way possible, meeting with Gow families and alumni. On November 5th, Mr. Munro travelled to New York City and attended an event at The New York Tennis and Racquet Club hosted by current parents Paola and Jim A. (Parents of Ethan '25). Mr. Munro was able to connect with current families and alumni who attended this Gow event. With the new year, Mr. Munro will begin travelling more for the School and visiting South Wales, NY.

For those who have not yet had the chance to meet Mr. Munro, we are delighted to share a brief video from Mr. Munro introducing himself.

Mr. Munro is the former Head of School at Fairfield Country Day School, a K-9 day school for boys in Fairfield, CT, where he served from 2010-2019. Currently, Mr. Munro serves on the leadership team of Adam J. Lewis Academy in Bridgeport, CT. The school’s mission is to provide access to high-quality education for underserved pre-K through eighth-grade children in Bridgeport, much as Buffalo Prep does in Western New York.
