    What Makes Gow Unique

The Gow Method, found nowhere else, plus college advising that starts in 9th grade, one-on-one executive function coaching, and a century of outcomes that show what is possible.

    The Gow Method

The Gow Method of Reconstructive Language is ours alone. It was developed here, it has been refined here for 100 years, and it is taught only on our campus.

For many bright students, language has never quite made sense. They have memorized rules and pushed through, but nothing has really stuck. The Gow Method removes the guesswork. Students are shown exactly how language works, step by step, in a way that is clear and consistent.

    What Makes It Different

    • Born at Gow. The Gow Method was developed here with input from Dr. Samuel T. Orton, and has had a century of daily classroom practice since.
    • A class of its own. Every student takes The Gow Method as its own class, every year.
    • Woven into every subject. Every teacher is trained in it, so its practices carry into English, math, science, and history alike.
    • Multisensory and structured. Students learn through sight, sound, and touch at the same time, moving step by step through phonics, spelling, and vocabulary. Nothing is skipped and nothing is left to chance.
    • Understanding, not memorizing. Students learn patterns like prefixes, suffixes, and roots, so they can make sense of new words on their own.
    • Grouped by skill. Each student is assessed on arrival, learns with peers at the same level, and is regrouped as their skills advance.

    Taught by Trained Experts

Our teacher preparation program is accredited by IMSLEC (the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council) and includes a supervised practicum. Gow faculty also present at national conferences, including the International Dyslexia Association.
